Eurovision World Cup: Portugal vs Spain

For the duration of the actual World Cup, some of the best Eurovision artists old and new will be battling it out in a series of matches that mirror the World Cup itself. By the end, we will know the first winner of our Eurovision World Cup!

On each competition day of the World Cup, all of the matches for that day will be posted here on Eurovision Union. For a full 24 hours, a poll will be open for each match and it will be up to you to pick which of the representative songs will win the match.

It is Day 2 of the World Cup, and today features three huge matches from Group A and B. This match is between neighbours Portugal and Spain, so let’s see the entries!

Today’s Competitors:

It took Portugal decades of participations at Eurovision to finally score a win, and it was Salvador Sobral who finally won the trophy for Portugal with the beautiful song Amar Pelos Dois which was written by none other than Salvador’s sister. Listen to the entry here:

Spain have been competing at Eurovision since 1961, and since then have achieved two wins which interestingly were back to back. Since they have more than one win, it was up to us to decide which of the entries would be representing Spain in the Eurovision World Cup, and we decided on their 1968 entry La, La, La performed by Massiel.
